It was noted that the total income received by the levy in Year 2 (2019/20) was £283.592, and the following initiatives were agreed by the Community Safety Partnership; - Additional police officers on patrol between 11pm to 3am - Street pastors - Officer to manager the scheme - Additional street cleaning - Purchase of four big belly bins - Portable urinal placed in the borough during the evening and night
Mr Lewis explained that the total expenditure on the initiatives was £211,143 taking a surplus of £86,658 into Year 3. It was further noted that they were in the process of a contract for additional street pastors which would be costing £83,500 and a contract for two portable toilets for the value of £100,000 and that neither of these had been included in the spend for Year 2 and would be accounted for in the expenditures in Year 3. The roles and outcomes of the current levy initiatives were highlighted and the benefits of the levy were noted.
In response to questions from Members the following was agreed;
- Officers to continue to work with the Metropolitan Police to explore the possibility of employing more Police Officers. - Officers to explore options for more portable toilets to be placed around other parts of the borough.
