The scope of short-term holiday letting in Tower Hamlets uses only information that is publicly available; however, it does bring together information which relates to individuals, which may identify an individual, and which relates to the financial or business affairs of any particular person. This may mean the exemption of part of the report which will be conbsidered during the drafting of the report.

Has an Equality Analysis been carried out and if so the result of this Assessment?: No. The Council’s Housing Strategy, adopted in December 2016, included an Equality Impact Assessment of all actions -including commitments to evaluate the impact of short-term rentals and further to that to use legislation to regulate the market. The impact of any decision that restricts the prevalence of short-term letting aims to mitigate the risk to social cohesion and the loss of affordable housing which both have a disproportionate impact on groups who are financially excluded – disproportionately groups with protected characteristics.
