To consider and approve the decision making process and governance arrangements for projects to be match funded through the Council’s crowdfunding initiative.

 

The Council’s VCS strategy includes an action to develop a crowdfunding initiative in the borough and to provide match funding in the form of a grant.

 

The decision making process and governance arrangements for such decisions (match funding) need to be agreed by the Grants Determination (Cabinet) Sub-Committee.

Consultation process

A demonstration of the pilot crowdfunding platform (Spacehive) was presented to officers in late 2016 and was presented to Members on the 28th February 2017. Spacehive have also engaged with the Tower Hamlets CVS.

 

In addition to this, at the Mayor of London crowdfunding workshop on the 27th April 2017 representatives from LBTH will be present to highlight the LBTH initiative with local community organisations.
