Reason for urgency:
The reasons for urgency centre around the length of time the process takes and also because we have very vulnerable residents living in poor accommodation.
Firstly, as set out in our Private Sector Renewal Policy, applications for Home Repair Grants will be determined within 20 days from date of full application.
Secondly, as also set out in our policy we have a duty to assist vulnerable residents in the removal of Cat 1 Hazards, to which the grants apply.
These applicants are:
- 87 year old, who can’t use his kitchen or bathroom taps
- 72 year old with a leaky roof
- A disabled lady requesting service for a stairlift and step lift which she relies on to access her property
- A disabled lady needing a minor repair for her boiler so she can have heating and hot water
