New Social Housing Regulatory Functions and Nominees to Adopt Responsibilities
For Cabinet to approve the nominated council
positions to take on additional responsibilities that have derived
from the changes to social housing regulations and has created two
new functions as summarised below:
Regulation
1. Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023
Regulative Function
“Health and Safety Lead” – to monitor Health
& Safety compliance in social housing including assessing risks
and providing advice to Cabinet on how the risk should be
managed.

2. Charter for Social Housing Residents/
Consumer Standards
Regulative Function
“Responsible Person” - to oversee compliance with the
new consumer standards. The requirement is noted in the Charter for
Social Housing Residents.
