Description
The Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning (Statutory Deputy Mayor) has oversight for the following services and activities that fall within the Mayor and Cabinet Member Portfolios – Decision Making powers are as set out in the Executive Scheme of Delegation in the Constitution
These can be changed at any time by the Mayor
(by informing the Monitoring Officer/Head of Democratic Services)
Note – Some of these areas may have Non-Executive functions. Where that is the case the Mayor/Cabinet Member has no role in those decisions/functions.
- Children Looked After and Corporate Parenting
- Early Years, learning, play and children's centres
- Children with Disabilities and Special Educational Needs
- School Improvement and relationship with Tower Hamlets Education Partnership (THEP)
- School admissions and pupil place planning
- Youth services
- Volunteering, apprenticeships, and training
- Further and higher education
- Adult and community learning
- Children and Family Partnership
- Supporting Community Languages
- Faith Communities.
The Statutory Deputy Mayor has authority to exercise the Mayor’s powers only in the event that for any reason the Mayor is unable to act at any time.
