Council response
Petition regarding: Refund for missed waste collections.
All councils in normal circumstances can suffer with a variety of
problems that can and do impact the performance and delivery of the
waste service and unfortunately, we are no exception to those
issues. We provide a contact process that allows residents to
report missed collections via the link here: -
https://towerhamlets-self.achieveservice.com/service/Report_a_missed_bin_collection,
and a remedial service that ultimately collect all the outstanding
waste.
We no longer have a contractor in place as we have brought the
waste service back in house. This is an ongoing project and with
all large organisational moves, there are several hurdles to cross
which adds to the settling in period. Our commitment is to ensure
we raise the standards we require for our residents.
Inevitably along the way with such a large project there will be
issues and problems that need resolving and delayed collections of
waste and recycling unfortunately do occur due to this. While some
waste collections may be missed on the scheduled days, we make
every effort to resolve this and always return as soon as possible
to collect the outstanding waste, ultimately ensuring all waste is
collected and cleared.
We appreciate that any delayed collection of waste is not the
service you desire, however I would like to assure you that we are
continually reviewing our operations and procedures to improve the
service to all our residents, and you will receive a continually
improved service as we progress with this project.
As there has been no substantive loss to the residents it is not
appropriate to use public funding to pay compensation, however the
waste service has taken full notice of the concerns raised and are
taking action to ensure the service is to the standard we desire
for our residents.
Yours sincerely,
Mick Darby
