This report presents the outcome of the preliminary stakeholder consultation (pre-statutory) on the proposal to establish a single three form entry, 3-11 primary school, through the amalgamation (merger) of Cubitt Town Infants’ and Cubitt Town Junior Schools from September 2020.

The report explains the background and reasons for the first stage of the consultation; the responses received with the views of parents, pupils, staff and the general public. Its purpose is to enable the Mayor in cabinet to decide whether or not the council should proceed to the next stage of the process, which would be to issue a statutory notice informing of the intention for the two schools to amalgamate.

The report includes a summary of representations received and any responses made; risk and opportunities; officer’s recommendations; decisions available to the Mayor in Cabinet.

The Mayor in Cabinet is statutorily required to take a decision on whether to proceed to the next stage, which would be to issue a statutory notice requiring a formal public consultation on the amalgamation of Cubitt Town Infants’ and Cubitt Town Junior Schools.
