Keep Antill Road vehicle filter
We the undersigned, Residents of Antill Road E3 and surrounding
streets, welcome the imposition of the traffic gate which has been
a great success by
(i) dramatically reducing the vehicle traffic rat running down our
street
(ii) reducing pollution resulting in much cleaner air
(iii) making walking, scooting and cycling safer and more
welcoming
(iv) making it is safer for children to cross the road
We urge the Mayor and his administration to respect our wishes and keep the traffic gate in place.

Council response
Thank you for your petition which you presented at Council meeting on 27th July 2022.
In February 2022 the Council introduced a prohibition on
westbound motor vehicles on Antill Road west of the junction
between Selwyn Road and Antill Road. This probation applied to all
vehicles except those holding an exemption permit. The area of
eligibility for an exemption permit is shown in the shaded area in
the map below.
Since implementation, the scheme has received representations which are mainly focused on the impact of displaced traffic on nearby roads and the impact on those reliant on taxis and private hire vehicles.
The amendment to remove the prohibition of traffic in the westbound direction was implemented on Monday 18th of July 2022. This is an amendment to the experimental order and will involve a six-month consultation period, after which the Council will decide on whether to make the change permanent or revoke it.
The Council will be doing the following over the next 6 months:
• Considering the representations/objectives
• Monitoring traffic flows on Antill road and surrounding
streets
• Monitoring air quality on Antill Road and surround
streets.
Following this, the Council will consider whether to make the experimental order permanent or potentially amend the order to address issues raised in the consultation.
