Petition details

Save the Isle of Dogs Police Station

  • Browse all current ePetitions
We the undersigned petition the council to ask the Mayor of London to halt the sale of the Manchester road Police station on the Isle of Dogs unless and until an alternate facility is provided for the local Safer Neighbourhood Police teams in E14. That if the Council is unable to stop the sale that the Council provide alternate facilities themselves.

The Mayor of London's Office for Policing And Crime Office (MOPAC) has announced the sale of the Isle of Dogs police station later this year
This would mean local Police officers having to commute in from Bethnal Green Police Station each day, wasting 40 to 60 minutes a day (Limehouse Police Station is only used by SCO19 firearms command, not local Tower Hamlets Police)
That if the sale cannot be stopped that the Council fund a replacement using s106 or CIL monies or help to provide alternative local facilities for the Police (& the Police Cadets) to use as a local base.

This Petition ran from 22/09/2021 to 03/11/2021 and has now finished.

1140 people signed this Petition.

Council response

The council’s response to the below petition is that while the closure of station is a decision for the Police our asset managers are actively exploring whether any premises on the Island could offer an alternative base.

Kind regards
