We the undersigned petition the council to pressure Galliard Homes regarding remediation of latent discrepancies and combustible materials in Indescon Square E14

Indescon Square is a Galliard Homes purpose-built primarily residential development in the London Docklands. The development is home to over three hundred and fifty Tower Hamlets residential flats.

In February 2020 Indescon Square was identified as having significantly discrepant original building and a lack of Operations and Mantenance documents. The discrepant building includes the reported absence of fire breaks, missing and plain wrong cavity wall fire barriers, along with combustible insulation that must be removed.

Galliard Homes Limited built Indescon Square approximately 10 years ago and now argue that the NHBC warranty will insure residents with regard to remediation costs. Residents have never accepted that the NHBC warranty can be used to remove the original responsibility from developers and builders and we have been demanding communication with Galliard for six months. Galliard however takes no responsibility to answer questions regarding our need to speedily rectify these apparent latent discrepancies and which are reported in the Trident Building Consultancy Ltd Executive Summary. [Indescon Square Inspection of Cladding Material -– Report of Trident Building Consultancy Limited (28/02/2020), Document Reference MAC / KM / P2019-0942].
Instead Galliard is allowing all residents to suffer unacceptable anxiety.

We consider that Galliard Homes Ltd was negligent in their duty to ensure that the construction was safe, is negligent in their duty to correct the consequences and now must promptly accept their responsibilities. Such a large and successful building company has the financial resources and inhouse industry professionals and should not leave the residents to carry the burden and consequential damage to our physical and mental well-being. The stress of unknown time to resolve, the cost of reparation of defective building and the significant reduction in value of our homes due to the uncertainty is becoming unbearable to many. We have appealed to Galliard to take immediate ownership of the remediation process to meet the survey requirements and complete this as quickly as possible at no cost to the residents. But we have absolutely no engagement or even acknowledgement fron Galliard Homes.

We now ask Tower Hamlets Council to support us as residents with this now lengthy and time-consuming issue. We ask Tower Hamlets Council to communicate with Galliard Homes Ltd on our behalf to put further pressure on the Company to expedite remediation works as soon as possible or face all consequences.

This Petition ran from 25/11/2020 to 06/01/2021 and has now finished.
