Payment of Historic Buildings Grant – St. Mary’s Church, Bow
St. Mary’s Church was awarded a formal
grant offer of £20,000, subject to contract, towards external
works to the west tower, on 12 September 2017 by the Grants
Determination Sub-Committee (appendix 2). The work was completed on
29 June 2018 and has met all the grant payment criteria - the
architect has issued a certificate of practical completion
(appendix 3) and a council officer has visited site to find the
work completed to a satisfactory conservation standard (appendix
4). The grant can now be processed for payment. There is some
urgency as payment to the church is overdue and they have requested
payment be made as soon as possible to help their financial
situation in the run up to the second phase of works at the church
which will see the building be removed from the Heritage at Risk
register.
